Modern Taiwanese land power is dominated by aging American types with roots set in the early and late Cold War period. This includes both the M48 and M60 Patton tanks of which the latter is the only one classified as a true Main Battle Tank. The CM-11 and CM-12 are further evolutions of the American M48 Medium Tank. The M1A2 Abrams is set to make its appearance in number though only two have been delivered in 2022. The rest of the inventory is largely of Taiwanese or American in origin and a mix of old and modern designs. In total number, the inventory is dwarfed by what is available to the Peoples Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) of China.
